LAGUARDIA AIRPORT CTB REPLACEMENT PROJECT

The LaGuardia Redevelopment Project encompasses multiple sub-projects within the airport, aimed at enhancing its infrastructure and facilities. JOADEM, hired by BVNA for PANYNJ-SKANSKA/WALSH JV, has been actively involved in providing Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) services since August 2018. The scope of services includes Special Inspections and Materials Laboratory Testing on various sub-projects within the redevelopment.

The project involves several significant components, including the demolition and reconstruction of the Central Terminal Building (CTB) and associated infrastructures. Additionally, JOADEM’s involvement extends to the construction of the Concourse A building, central roadways, airside facilities, pedestrian bridges (PED) A and B, and utilities across multiple locations within the project.

As a Class 1 Special Inspections and Materials Testing Agency, JOADEM contributes to fulfilling the project’s 30% Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) goal. Our services encompass a range of special inspections and materials testing activities. Notably, approximately 70% of our work focuses on concrete sampling and testing.

JOADEM conducted various tests on different types of concrete used in the project, including Normal weight, Light weight, and Lightweight cellular concrete fill. Field testing is carried out on beams, while laboratory tests, such as Compressive and Flexural Strength testing, are performed on concrete samples.

In addition to our testing services, JOADEM provided manpower to cover the placement of over 1000 cubic yards of Lightweight Cellular Concrete Fill (LCCF). This contribution ensured the successful execution of the project while meeting the required standards and specifications.
